The second day with Darling and Ignaci in Havana

The second day we were like close friends. I forgot I was working and I felt free to share opinions and dreams. I realized we had a lot in common, no matter how distant we are.

I kept my “Gitana Tropical” as a present  and I hope they can enjoy  “Habanastation”, a film I promised and I could gave them before they left .

Saying goodbye was beautiful and touching. Darling almost made me cry with her words and I promised to memorize some dates (but not too many) so that I can go on sharing stories and dreams in between.

A beautiful couple from Colombia and Spain in Havana.

   We were planning our meeting for weeks. Ignacio asked for the details and suggested a lot of things and places they wanted to see. It was going to be my first tour in Spanish language and I was a little worried about dates.

   When the day arrived Darling and her husband accepted to share their time with three Australian young friends and somehow they were pushed to meet Old Havana in an English presentation.

But in the afternoon we were alone and totally free to talk in Spanish while visiting “El Cristo de la Habana”.   

   Thanks God Darling did not need too many numbers to understand our history, now a days situation and the potential of this island. But Ignacio made me crazy sometimes, trying hard not to make the fool when he needed a specific date to understand a special event.

With my canadian friends in Old Havana

  On the morning of the first day in Havana they woke up really early. We wanted to take a look at the quiet city which was almost impossible after 9:00 am. It was a nice walk, no sun, no crowded narrow streets, just the buildings, the stones, the History and us.
 

 Of course that changed by the time the city woke up. Leo and David noticed the change, but they were really happy of having such experience. It was a long day full of surprises. The Old Square happened to be their favorite.

 

 

 

 

Old Havana looks so nice

All that fascinating elegance welcomes visitors from everywhere, like these friends from Denmark I guided through the narrow streets of Havana.

 UNESCO declared Old Havana World Heritage, and this distinction means a lot for Cubans. It has taken a long time, the process of restoration does not go as fast as we would like, but there is the city emerging from the time, with a charming and ancient beauty which doesn´t mean just the “power of the Old continent” but the courage and the will of Cubans.

Young Italian friends in old havana

 By the time I was writing these words they were still in this Caribbean island. Four young Italian friends chose Cuba as the destiny for their holidays. They asked for a few hours tour in Old Havana but discovered they needed a little more to get a general idea of the colors, the rhythm and the spirit of this ancient city.

 

We ran from one place to the other and they didn´t stop asking questions. I didn´t have all the answers, but was lucky enough to find them around just on time. Thanks God I had my camera with me so that I could get this wonderful moments.

There is nothing better than the curiosity and enthusiasm of young people, yearning to learn about the history and traditions of someone else. This perfume store of natural essence , was a great discovery for them.
